Polo Luxury Matches may appear to represent a quaint British afternoon sport, but polo was in fact first played in Persia sometime between the 6th century BC to the 1st century AD as a training game for cavalry units - who played it with as many as 100 to a side, and to whom it was like a miniature battle.
