Ethical Policy

01 Ethical Statement

At Archivist, generosity and happiness sit at the heart of everything we do. As a British design and manufacturing business, we're committed to creating products responsibly, supporting our people, and working with suppliers who share our values.

We believe beautiful products should never come at the expense of people or the planet.

02 We are committed to:

  • Treating everyone in our business and supply chain fairly and with respect.
  • Maintaining ethical and environmentally responsible business practices.
  • Building long-term, transparent relationships with our suppliers.
  • Continuously improving the way we work as our business grows.
  • Complying with the UK Modern Slavery Act and all relevant employment legislation.

03 We believe a happy team creates better products. That's why we:

  • Pay all employees above the UK National Living Wage.
  • Provide a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace.
  • Ensure all employees have the legal right to work.
  • Support the wellbeing and development of our team.
  • Treat permanent and temporary employees fairly.

04 We carefully choose suppliers who share our commitment to ethical business practices.

Our approach includes:

  • Building long-term supplier relationships based on trust.
  • Visiting suppliers and manufacturing partners wherever possible.
  • Assessing suppliers for ethical standards and working conditions.
  • Working collaboratively to resolve issues rather than simply moving suppliers.
  • Ending supplier relationships if serious concerns cannot be resolved.

05 Archivist has zero tolerance for modern slavery, forced labour or human trafficking.

We work to prevent these practices by:

  • Assessing risk throughout our supply chain.
  • Carrying out supplier due diligence.
  • Working with suppliers to improve standards. Supporting recognised ethical auditing programmes, including Sedex and SMETA.
  • Reviewing our policies regularly to ensure they remain effective.

06 We do not tolerate child labour within our business or supply chain.

Our suppliers are expected to:

  • Verify the age of all workers.
  • Protect young workers from hazardous work.
  • Maintain accurate employment records.
  • Report any concerns immediately.

If child labour is identified, we believe the best outcome is one that protects the child, supports their education and works with suppliers to achieve lasting improvements wherever possible.

07 We expect our suppliers to uphold internationally recognised employment standards, including:

  • Employment that is freely chosen.
  • Safe and healthy working conditions.
  • Fair pay and living wages.
  • Reasonable working hours.
  • No discrimination.
  • No harsh or inhumane treatment.
  • Freedom of association and collective bargaining where legally permitted.
  • Regular, lawful employment practices.
