The Pattern Book

Turning forgotten ephemera into modern keepsakes.

The Pattern Book is a London-based greeting card company founded in 2016 by friends Nick Crowe and Neil Baber. Drawing on their backgrounds in art publishing, they curate imagery from archives, libraries, vintage shops and flea markets, restoring and reworking illustrations sourced from out-of-print books, scientific texts, commercial catalogues and vintage maps. Many designs are instructional or educational in spirit, inspired by ‘how-to’ guides and taxonomical illustration, while others reflect a nostalgia for the interests and lifestyles of long ago.

Our first collection together is an ode to the artist’s workbench, with matchbox designs featuring colour swatches and paint pots.
